Making the titles, animations and other required graphics while also tackling other assignments was a very taxing but worthwhile effort. I enjoy the challenge of being put under pressure while also maintaining a standard. It was not easy but I enjoyed it and thankfully, the graphics matched the quality of the overall production.
I have been experimenting with typography for many months during this time, following simple guides, testing different techniques, using track mattes for swift transitions and unique effects. For the intro, the animation is very simple. Make the movements subtle, use some masks to get this multiplying effect and also keep it moving onto the next thing. I then introduce some shots of different political figures to invoke the emotion of seriousness, keep the shots swift and flowing quickly and then conclude with the title.
The logo, designed by Rachel Long, is very smart as it's affiliating the common term of 'Raising the roof 'while also being a commentary on the prices of housing increasing within Ireland. It's simplicity allowed me to easily use some trim paths to draw the roof, then just keyframe the opacity and position and you're good to go.
While it seems easy, it required a few meetings, a long night of animating and implementing critiques that were vital to it's overall improvement.
This assignment was my biggest humbling I have received. I initially thought that everyone would be happy with the first render and I wouldn't have to look back. However, I took the constructive criticism to the brain rather than the heart and improved the render immensely which, thankfully, resulted in a higher grade.
Lesson learned.
